Need to stop smoking or suffer a stroke any tips?
Options (with the success rate 1 year later) include:
- Will-power alone (around 5%)
- Acupuncture (around 5%)
- Hypnotherapy (not much evidence)
- Nicotine replacement psychoanalysis: patches, chewing-gum, sprays, you christen it (around 10%)
- Bupropion (Zyban) (also around 10%)
- Varenicline (Champix) (around 15%)
- Professional group therapy or counselling (around 20%)
Discussing the situation with your doctor or a smoking 'Quitline' is proven to amend your chances a short time.
My tips would be:
1. Use a combination of strategies, not just one
2. Make a bet (for a colossal sum, if possible!) near your doctor that you can have a distrustful cotinine test three times within a row, at three-month intervals. That's putting your money where your mouth is!
Good luck!
P.S. I promise I'm not surrounded by a syndicate with your doctor...!
Two of the best ways of stopping smoking are any Hypnotherapy or Acupuncture (or both if you really want).
Good luck!
Nutritional support can also help - nick large doses of vitamin C, and definite herbs can be compassionate. Do seek guidance from an experienced herbalist or nutritionist.
