My friend's little brother is having some atypical symptoms. He has a huge lump underneath his ear (about the size of a golfball) and he have a 101 degree restlessness. He also feels oil lamp headed and dizzy.
Should we bring him within? What could possibly be wrong?Question in connection with twelve year dated...?
the parents should take him to the E.R. right away. He must be miserable. Very sick. Go!
Definitely bring him to emergency. The swelling could be a few things (allergic recoil, carbuncle, who knows what else), but the frenzy indicates that it may be an infection. Best not to guess at it and see a doctor asap.
It could be mumps. Does the swelling look like this?:
Right, you should probably hail as up some family member or whatnot [someone who knows what they're conversation about] or just bring him right contained by. Better safe after sorry, right?
The lump under his ear is probably a swollen gland (lymph node). He's war some sort of infection. The light head and dizzy makes me surmise flu. For most people a disorientation of 101 isn't very lofty. He should be given tylenol and monitored. If the fever climbs any high, starts showing other symptoms or hasn't broken by tomorrow call the doctor and see what they say-so.
Should see a doctor right away. It could be:
-mump (rare though coz vaccine should cover it)
-infection (it could be pus collection. The site is not good, it could devour through the bone and go to end in meningitis)
BRING HIM IN NOW!!!...
Sounds like Anthrax
