Operation to increase lung size?

there is an operation to increase the lung size for patients sufferinf from copd, is there any information I can read?Operation to increase lung size?
There are 2 operation available for patients with COPD that rearrange lung function, but not lung capacity. There is no operation that increases lung dimensions. The 2 operations available are a bullectomy, and lung volume slimming down surgery. Only a select few of patients with COPD will benefit from one of these operation.
The link below should steal you to a patient information handout about surgery for COPD. I hope this help.

Hi, my mother had this procedure done several years final. It is called a Lung Reduction, but I am not sure that they do it anymore. Her procedure be done at Duke University in North Carolina. Her operation be a success, to a point. But it took her almost a year and a partly to recover her strength, etc...She is better but still have a hard time, can not run outside on very hot days,etc...you know the drill. I hope this help you. Good luck. I failed to mentioned that the procedure is extremely difficult. THey remoced several portions of respectively top lobe to allow for more air to flow through the lungs and expand. Her stay at Duke be 6-8 weeks, then physical analysis. We also had to overthrow her back to loosen and dislodge the mucus from the respiortory track. But luckily she is still next to us, she will be 70 in august. Just thought you would close to to hear from someone who has have personal experiance with this. Good luck
