for polio we enjoy two type of vacines.
1) Oral ( used in india)
2) injectebles.
Polio although eradicated contained by most of the developed countries, it is still prevalent in countries similar to India. It spreads through faeco-oral route, hence proper hand wash after toileting is mandatory.Improving sanitation is key factor to prevent this disease.
However, vaccine(oral drops) is available which to be given at birth, thereafter at one and partially, two and half, and at three and partly month periods.
