poison ivy can be contagious if you have the oil on your hands and you touch another slice of your body or someone elses - it can be anywhere the oils enjoy not been properly wash.

you can use benedryl to help near the itch and a topical ivy cream - if you have it really discouraging they may put you on steroids.

I'm not allergic to poison ivy, but I do hold overly sensitive skin, and the doctor once told me that an oatmeal bath would be angelic for me, and it also would help those with poison ivy stop the itching.
