Clotting usually. Neosporin might heal it faster, but consent to the body do its thing.
Use the Neosporin if it looks approaching an infection. Otherwise, use hydrocortisone cream. My wife to be gets one and the same thing and the hydrocortisone usually clears it up within a couple of days.
