She has be having stomach cramps sour and on,sometimes she feels close to throwing up but doesn't, could the thyroid medication dosage be to strong. My sister be taking armour thyroid?
Call the pharmacy and ask a pharmacist. They are experts on drugs.
You ask if the dosage could be "too strong" but you don't say what the dosage is or for how long your sister have been on it.
Less adjectives adverse effects include diarrhea and vomiting. It's possible that she may be leading up to these. Advise her to report this to her prescribing physician. If she starts vomiting, she should stop taking it and report this right away to her doctor.
Armour usually doesn't cause that type of side effect. Did your sister lately start on it or start a new dose? She can try splitting the dose taking partly in the morning and partially in the afternoon. That's the style I take it. I enjoy no side effects from the Armour. All it has done is serve me with symptoms that Levoxyl didn't comfort.
Could the stomach cramps be because she is constipated? IBS with constipation is a symptom of hypothyroidism
Below are some links on Armour
Thyroid prescription has no side effects so her stomach issues could be from other things. Armour is a terribly good medication. She should get quarterly lab works to form sure that she is not on too much medicine though. The TSH should be around 1. If it is lower - try adjust the dose a little. Good luck to your sister!
